Sorry for the long delay for a blag entry, but March and April were very busy months. Anyways, I am now finished university and will be receiving my Bachelor's in Software Engineering some time this summer during convocation. Here is a set of pictures to show what I have been up to in Final Fantasy XI.
Check out my Clothcraft mule! It is a lot easier to synthesize materials when you have two characters that can make them at the same time.
SpikeFlail has been doing ZNMs the past few weeks. This entails lots of solo or low-man fights with tier 1 and tier 2 ZNMs.
Fighting the same T3 ZNM several times in a row gets repetitive. PlasticSurgeon can make things more interesting.
As you can see from the body piece, I finished the mission line for the new mini-expansion. It looks very feminine and looks horrible on Hume male. I put Ranged Attack+10 and Snapshot+5 augments on the piece. In the above screenshot, I am tanking the ZNM because the PLD is weakened.
My dual boxing skills keep improving. Here is a successful nine-person Cerberus fight where I am controlling two of those nine people. This fight was after the resistance changes, so ES+Troub+Elegy would only last four minutes.
With some free time on my hands, I have decided to keep a mule in Dragon's Aery for tracking the times of death. They are useful for catching Nidhogg!
I have also been doing a lot of Salvage. Salvage is probably my favourite activity due to its quirky details compared to other events.
A naked female in Salvage is better to look at than a naked Hume male.
My finger speed is shown in this set's last picture here with getting a killshot, sending a tell, and taking a screenshot at the same time. I was also dual boxing my party's Bard as well. Expect entries soon on my Black Mage that got Sorcerer's Petasos at level 40 and is getting full use of my Anniversary Ring.

Greetings, blagosphere. Some of you may be wondering what Jayhawk has been up to in Final Fantasy XI. A recent poll conducted showed that number of people who cared was zero. Here are various pictures showing the what, where, who, why and when not so much, and what the fuck run-on sentence incoming.
Yes, I still lead Moonshines around in Sky two nights a week. The only things I could possibly want from sky that I will not use for a long time are Neptunal Abjuration: Body and Neptunal Abjuration: Feet for a melee job. I already have Hands and Dryadic Abjuration: Body from free lot!
TIAMAT SQUARE.
In the seas of Al'taieu...
The mystery of Limbus...
The trolls of Mount Zhayolm's gate keeper enjoys my company.
The notorious monsters in the past provide fun and excitement.
Playing with PlasticSurgeon while gathering for Einherjar to fight Odin.
My red mage brings all the damage dealers to the yard.
We end this post with some rap verses from Nephawk. Nep: I NEED MORRIGAN HANDS AND FEET2MAKE MY LIFE COMPLETE I WILL SLAP YO FACE UNTIL IT'S RED LIKE A BEET SEND YOU BACK TO MAMA, SUCKIN ON THE TEET I KNOW CHU SEE ME KILLIN ON THIS BEAT SO GET OFF THE STAGE AND GET BACK IN YO SEAT Jayhawk: GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN IF YOU CAN'T TAKE THE HEAT, MY FICTITIOUS RHYMES GO WELL WITH ANY BEAT. MISTER DISC JOCKEY, LET'S GET THIS CLUB BUMPING. I WANT ALL THE SLUTTY GIRLS ON THIS SIDE HUMPING.

Georges St. Pierre's winning attire for the past couple of fights include a hachimaki that says "hissho" on it. It could provide an attack and accuracy bonus like the Hissho Hachimaki in Final Fantasy XI. I didn't notice the shiny material on the GSP on his Silverstar tshirt before. I guess I shall add it to my wardrobe of Affliction shirts (including the GSP one) and a BJ Penn t-shirt I got for free when my jiu jitsu instructor trained with his team.

Thanks FFXIAH for showing me that over 100 of my past 255 AH transactions have been purchases of Antican Pauldrons. THANKS! <_>
I am also looking for potential buyers of Byakko's Haidate, looking for 4.5M probably based on competition.

I have to watch what I say about work thanks to the non-disclosure agreements! Anyways, work has been great so far and there are so many co-op students to make things fun and interesting. The environment is very casual and I like the different break rooms with the Xbox 360, PS2, foosball tables, ping pong tables, and pool table. Most of the students are getting along well. We're allowed to use MSN to communicate with each other and lots of activities get planned. My pool and foosball abilities were adequate since I have not played that much since first year university but my skills have improved and I am able to hustle people at pool again. In foosball, my goalie and defense shots are scoring and my offense is thriving off of my mind games.
The gym is very nice and it passes my criteria of a good gym. Squat rack? Clean pull-up bar? Punching bags with plenty of space around it for Muay Thai? Multiple adjustable benches for various incline/flat/decline exercises? A large number of plates for attaching onto barbells? Yes to all of the above.
I am also enjoying the flexible hours by coming in usually at 10 AM in shorts and a t-shirt.
People in my team are big MMA fans, sports fans, and love gaming. Speaking of MMA, I'm gonna be sore tomorrow night after Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class. :X

The west coast is the best coast. Am I right?
Some of my classmates who are working in the west coast are planning on going to the Seahawks-Patriots game in December. I will be going with them. Who cares if tickets are already sold out? We will find a way. My buddy is trying to get me to go to a Canucks game. Yeah, right. I would not be entertained by a 2-1 game from the defensive-minded Canucks unless the Leafs were playing or something. I gotta have some emotional attachment to be interested in watching a hockey game where it is a snooze-fest gameplay wise. I can watch any style of play in the NFL. NFL! Wooooooooooooooo.
I hope I can find time this month to get WHM, RDM, and BLM to level 51 while being able to go weight-lifting regularly.

| dual shock 3 |
[18 Jul 2008|03:24am] |
In addition to groceries, I bought a dual shock 3 today. The main reason behind the purchase was to get a second PS3 controller to access the 3rd-person view on the camera shots in Metal Gear Solid 4. Once lectures are done at the end of the month and before I need to study for finals, I will be taking some pictures of my unlocked costumes and random scenarios I like to create with the emotive bullets. KojiPro has made it easy to upload the pictures you take in-game.
I woke up early on Sunday, so I decided to do a MGS4 speed run while unlocking the Altair costume from Assassin's Creed with the added condition of 0 continue. I clocked in at 4 hours and 38 minutes. I also used that run to snag some items in preparation for the Big Boss emblem run in the works. I am hoping I can finally obtain that emblem after all the final projects are due.
As a big facepalm moment, one of the slacker group members got hired today by the same company I will be working for in Vancouver. They were looking to hire a few more coop students and he was still looking for a coop job.
In the fall (i.e., during my work term), employers use the university's job matching system to hire the upcoming graduates (e.g., me). The university also advises us to start emailing companies in September. I started a list of email addresses I am going to send cover letters and resumes to. The fall term will be great.

So I also have to decide if I want a $550ish-per-month, furnished apartment in Burnaby or a more expensive place in Yaletown, closer to work and where all the fun stuff is. Since I helped convince a friend who will be working in Seattle for Amazon to live in their corporate housing condos ($1600 per month), I'm leaning towards spending more cash to live in downtown Vancouver and enjoying myself. As Dave Chappelle would say: I'm rich, bitch. Though I need to save some money for all the trips around the world I have been planning with different people for 2009.

| school |
[11 Jul 2008|02:54am] |
All these group projects have really screwed up my sleeping patterns. The all-nighter count for this school term is in the double digits. This week included a session of being awake for 43 straight hours and the only caffeine that supported this duration was an iced cappuccino on a hot afternoon. The killer VoIP project is the project that spans across three courses over three terms. This term's portion of the project will take an estimated time of 280 hours of productive work. This derived value is from all the budgeting, scheduling, and estimation work done as part of the coursework for a separate software project management course.
Certain group members can't work well unless you explicitly tell them what to do and how to do it. In the end, their quality of work is shit compared to the rest of the work done that I end up redoing their work. The web interface using Java Server Pages had a very basic design. I wasn't even responsible for any of this administration console web interface portion of the phone project, yet I end up redoing their page layouts and creating the CSS stylesheets and all the images for the interface in Photoshop. This weekend, I will be redoing the browsing of customer accounts. I will make it look and feel like an email in-box with the following features: a table having sortable columns, a page-based approach for displaying the accounts (X accounts per page, navigate across Y pages to see all accounts), a search bar to filter the accounts displayed, click-to-view details of account functionality, and each account having a check-box to be able to delete multiple accounts at once. This will all be done using the JSP technology deployed.
Now for the actual work I was initially responsible for: the communication between the phone subsystem, the database, and the administration console. I will start working on the functionality that updates the billing information on the database every time a phone call ends. I need to make the code robust and scalable to handle up to 10,000 simultaneous calls ending and being able to function even if the database is down temporarily.
This is my current desktop wallpaper, something I worked on for a couple hours during my free time this week. It's for my $3000 laptop I named Jack. I need a higher-resolution picture of Rose instead of an image-capture of a flash video.

| all nighters |
[26 Jun 2008|12:45am] |
One group project being done and all the midterms and interviews being over with means I finally was able to get a good amount of sleep today when I fell asleep at noon. I have been staying on campus in labs for long stretches without any free time to go home, sleep, shower, eat, etc. I have been a smelly, hungry, and sleepy wreck the past few days. Unlike the dozens of software engineering, computer engineering, and computer science students who spent most of the past week in the Nortel lab with me, I do not need caffeine to pull an all-nighter.
I have to say the project has been awesome and the next deliverable for the project looks to expand on that awesomeness, even with all the time and stress related to these huge fourth-year engineering projects. The project, a telephone network system, basically has a phone subsystem and an administrative subsystem with other subsystems used for interfacing and storage. The system can control phones, allow them to call each other, assign phone numbers to the phones, track call duration, charge the phone users for their calls based on their billing plans, add new customers to be a part of the phone system, customize customer accounts, set parameters like the maximum amount of calls the system can support. The administrative console GUI is quite sexy even though I only spent like half an hour designing the layout with CSS and Photoshop. My group's GUI looks the sexiest from what I have seen. The design and architectural patterns my group used are also sexy. We also managed to trim down what we needed to submit using tar and gzip to create an archive file of approximately fifty megabytes. I'd have trouble create a fifty megabyte file with Microsoft Word just by pasting large images, imagine the time and trouble involved with putting out that file size from code written in a short amount of time. :D
Two more group projects to work on during the next seven days and two assignments. I also have to find an apartment in Vancouver for when I fly over there to work from September to December. Hurray for the hiring company paying for relocation expenses and providing a nice salary. Yaletown is gonna be awesome.

How retarded is it to talk about a situation a person has no clue about? I guess it's like saying that it takes a genius to Flash Proto-Ultima at the start of the fight and die. I'm also gonna disable comments because this is what retards do, disallow others to provide rebuttals because I am always right. Think about this for a second. *rolls eyes*
